Job Description
Do you love working with children and looking after babies? As a child minder, you will work in educare centres to support the teacher in keeping every child safe, happy and learning through play, in a calm and welcoming classroom.
What you’ll do
- Keep every child safe and supervised at all times, indoors and outdoors
- Care for children’s physical and emotional needs with kindness and dignity, including feeding, nappy changes, toilet routines and nap time
- Help the teacher plan and run daily activities such as storytime, songs, art, sensory play and outdoor play, building early language, numeracy and motor skills
- Guide behaviour with patience and positive methods
- Keep the classroom, toys and play areas clean, hygienic and safe
- Follow health, hygiene, food-safety and allergy procedures every day
- Welcome children and caregivers at drop-off, share updates at collection and communicate respectfully with families
Key Requirements
- Grade 12
- A genuine love for young children, with warmth, patience and a calm manner
- Reliable, punctual and responsible
- Physically fit: able to lift, carry, bend, kneel and sit on the floor for long periods
- Creative, energetic and willing to learn
