Job Description
Do you enjoy being outdoors and working with your hands? As a Farming and Garden Intern you will help to run a working regenerative farm and garden, where animals and crops support each other.
What you’ll do
- Care for plants in the nursery: watering, irrigation checks, potting on, cuttings and seed, and keeping stock healthy
- Prepare beds, plant, weed, mulch and look after crops in the field and tunnels
- Build and turn compost, handle manure safely, and help apply natural soil inputs as trained
- Harvest, wash, sort and pack produce and eggs to standard, keeping the pack shed clean and food-safe
- Move herds and flocks between paddocks according to the grazing plan, and set up and maintain electric fencing
- Check animals daily, feed and water them, handle them calmly
- Maintain water systems, fences, gates and kraals
Key Requirements
- Grade 9
- Eager to learn and able to follow instructions
- Physically fit: able to lift about 20 kg occasionally, walk long distances and work outdoors in all weather
- Enjoys being outdoors and doing physical work
