Job Description
Do you love working with plants and being outdoors? As the Nursery Intern you’ll care for and propagate plants, receive plants returning from our landscape and garden care jobs, and keep an eye on supplies so work is never interrupted.
What you’ll do
- Care for the nursery’s plants: watering, irrigation checks, weeding, pruning, feeding and potting on
- Watch for pests and disease, and raise concerns early
- Propagate plants through cuttings, seed and division, and look after young plants while they establish
- Receive plants and plant material returning from landscape and garden care jobs, then clean, divide, pot and nurse them back to health
- Check that plants going out to jobs are healthy and fit for use, and flag any that aren’t
- Keep the nursery clean, orderly and safe, including tools, equipment, waste and the staff toilet area
- Monitor supplies (pots, growing media, compost, fertiliser, seed trays) and report shortages or maintenance needs early
- Support the Nursery Lead, step in when colleagues are absent, and help with other tasks as requested by Verte leadership
Key Requirements
- Grade 9
- Great attention to detail
- Enjoys working in nature, with an interest in plant care and propagation
- Physically fit, able to carry heavy supplies
